Disney has confirmed that the world’s first Star Wars-themed hotel will open its doors to the public in 2019.
Star Wars, a blockbuster science-fiction (sci-fi) film series under Disney, is widely franchised in television series, video games, computer games, and books. This 2019, Star Wars: Galaxy Edge – a theme park dedicated to the popular sci-fi series – will open at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
The upcoming hotel, which will be part of the Star Wars theme park, will resemble a spaceship from the movie series’ universe. Each room can be booked only for two-night stays, with a price range of $900 to $1,000 inclusive of meals and admission to the theme park.
According to Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, the company aims to immerse guests in the world of Star Wars by letting them take part in an interactive two-day story experience, which involves dressing up in Star Wars costumes like the hotel staff. Each guest will have a unique timeline and carry out personal secret missions during the hotel stay.
Scott Brush, a hotel consultant in the US, affirmed that Disney is well-versed in creating themed hotels. Apart from the upcoming Star Wars hotel, they also have the Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, which allows guests to experience an African safari adventure by featuring several exotic animals. Another is Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, which has different animated movie-themed pools and rooms.
