Did you know that the phrase game center is actually Japanese English? The correct term is arcade. Many Japanese speakers may think of shopping arcades when they hear this word. That meaning is also correct but not used as commonly.
「ゲームセンター」は和製英語だと知っていましたか。英語で正しくは「arcade」と表現します。日本人はアーケードと聞くと、ショッピングアーケードを思い浮かべるかもしれません。その意味も間違いではないのですが、通常はあまり使われません。
