The organization Global Citizen has invited a diverse group of political, business, and philanthropic leaders to discuss world problems in a meeting. The meeting will happen in New York on May 1 and 2. Hugh Evans, the head of Global Citizen, said in an interview that the world is at a crossroads on many issues. So, the meeting’s goal is to discuss issues, like food shortages, climate change, and public health in poor areas.

Famous personalities, including actress Michelle Yeoh, Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi, and Bezos Earth Fund CEO Andrew Steer will be attending. Other Hollywood celebrities, such as Hugh Jackman, Dakota Johnson, and Danai Gurira will also join the event. According to Gurira, her mission is to help people who are underrepresented and to fight inequities in Africa during the meeting.

Aside from addressing world problems, Global Citizen has another goal. It hopes to encourage more young people to join the group.  According to Evans, the organization will give the award Global Citizen Prize to five young leaders. This award will give the spotlight and provide financial support to young people who are making extraordinary efforts to change the world.
