This year’s World Series attracted an average of 12.9 million viewers in Japan, making it the most-watched World Series in the country’s history. The high number of viewers was partly because two famous players, Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, were playing in the World Series for the first time. In total, the games had 28.7 million viewers in both the United States and Japan.

The five-game series featuring the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees had viewers tuning in, especially during the Dodgers’ 4-2 victory in Game 2. The game had 15.9 million viewers in Japan and became the most-watched postseason game in the country. The games began early in the morning in Japan, with people tuning in to TV stations like Fuji TV and J Sports.

In the United States, the World Series had an average of 15.8 million viewers on TV and streaming services. This was the highest number since 2017. Los Angeles City had the most viewers, followed by New York and San Diego. The games also broke viewership numbers in Canada, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Taiwan, according to Major League Baseball (MLB).
